Audience Research - Results


For the first question,  everyone who answered was either a teenager or a young adult, which is the audience that I am predominantly aiming to appeal to, and therefore their answers in this survey were particularly helpful.



For the second question, Comedy was comfortably the most popular genre, while the genres that my trailer is most linked to - Drama and Action - were selected by just one person each. This has encouraged me to incorporate other genres into my trailer.


The answer for the third question was unanimous - everyone who took the survey saw narrative as the most important factor in a film trailer, and has influenced me to focus most on that particular area.


The most popular option for the fourth question was also my preferred time frame for a trailer and was how long I planned to make mine last and therefore the results for this question were encouraging.



Question 5 was also unanimously answered, with everyone who took the survey agreeing that they usually watch trailers on YouTube. Although I was already planning to put my trailer on YouTube, the answers to this question have

Institutions that might produce and distribute my film


Seeing as my film would include large scale action sequences and a number of different settings, it would require a fairly large budget, and this is usually the case for films in the historical genre.

The leading distributor for the high-grossing films that are similar to mine is Warner Bros. Examples of these films include 300, The Hobbit trilogy, The Last Samurai, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Alexander and Troy although many of them are more action and fantasy oriented than my film.
