Sharing my trailer on Twitter

Twitter is an online social networking service that enables users to send and read short 140-character messages called "tweets". It is estimated that there are over 251 million monthly active twitter users meaning that if I released my media products via a 'tweet', I could have the chance to communicate with a mass audience and gain feedback.

The screenshot below shows the tweet I sent out to my followers providing the link to the trailer for 'Royal Blood'

Audience Feedback

I held a small screening of my trailer in front of three peers to gain audience feedback.

They each shared their thoughts on the trailer in the short interviews below.

Poster as imagined on a billboard

I used PhotoFunia to produce this image of what my poster would look like as an advertisement on a billboard.

Final Poster

One of my two ancillary tasks was to create a film poster to accompany my trailer. My main inspiration was the poster for Star Trek: Into Darkness.

Magazine Cover as imagined on the front of a real magazine

I used PhotoFunia to create this image of what my magazine cover would look like on the front of a real magazine, as I did for my other ancillary task, the film poster.

Contact Sheet - Ancillary Task 2 - Poster

For my film poster I decided to take a variety of pictures from different lengths and angles, with Jack doing different poses to give me a range of options. The sunlight on the day was helpful and ensured that the pictures were clear.

Contact Sheet - Ancillary Task 1 - Magazine Cover

In order to create a realistic looking magazine cover I took a variety of shots with Jack performing a number of different poses. I was particularly lucky with the lighting as it was a bright, clear, sunny day which meant that Jack's face was not too shrouded by shadow and therefore the images can be used with a different background on the magazine cover.

Soundtrack Choice

The soundtrack is an especially important feature of a trailer as it helps to capture the tone of the film that is being advertised and also serves as a way of attracting the audience's attention. Furthermore, it can add weight to quotes and soundbites from the film as well as action scenes.

For my trailer, I chose the music from the trailer for the 2014 video game Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor (Tenth Dimension - My Strife, My Fight, My Fear) as my soundtrack. I wanted a soundtrack that began fairly calmly and slowly built up to a climax, as my trailer is composed in the same way; the start is mainly dialogue, while the second half is predominantly composed of action sequences. It was also suitable as Shadow of Mordor is similar in genre to my production and in many ways falls into the category of action/adventure, although it is also very fantasy-oriented unlike my trailer.
